On June 30^th, The 10^th Congress of Overseas Chinese and Their Relatives of Xiaoshan District opened. Sun Xudong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Xiaoshan District Committee, was present at the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Zhu Rongxing, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Overseas Chinese Federation of Hangzhou City, was present at the congress upon invitation and provided guidance. The district leaders Ni Shiying, Gu Tao, Zhu Guojun and Shi Lijun also participated.  

 

Sun Xudong, on behalf of the CPC Xiaoshan District Committee and Xiaoshan District People’s Government, extended warm congratulations on convening the congress and conveyed cordial greetings and high respect to all returned overseas Chinese, their families, overseas Chinese and students studying abroad of the district. He said that General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the work related to overseas Chinese. He has put forward a series of new concepts, new thoughts and new strategies for doing a good job in this field, providing fundamental guidance for the work of overseas Chinese affairs and overseas Chinese federations in the new era. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the entire district kept in mind the earnest instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping: "Be a leading figure for the entire city, become a vanguard in the province and strive to be a pioneer nationwide", focused on the "four key aspects" of scientific and technological innovation leadership, intelligent manufacturing transformation, talent-driven development and youth-driven efforts, launched "three major campaigns" of attracting investment, project promotion and assisting enterprises, and has made a series of landmark achievements. A large number of returned overseas Chinese, their families, and overseas compatriots have worked together in the same direction, participated in Xiaoshan's economic and social development deeply, and have become an important bridge and link for Xiaoshan to expand its opening-up, promote science and technology innovation, and accelerate industrial upgrading, making significant contributions to the development of their hometown. The District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese has all the way focused on the central overall situation and leveraged the unique advantage of the overseas Chinese community, and united returned overseas Chinese, their families and overseas compatriots. Through solid efforts in rallying overseas Chinese hearts, gathering their wisdom, harnessing their strength and safeguarding their rights and interests, the Federation has developed a series of distinctive practices and experiences of Xiaoshan.
